Kids, Politics and History

As I watched Elena Kagan get elected to Supreme Court Justice I couldn't help but wonder...how many of our children will or know who she is? I think it's our responsibility and the responsibility of our teachers to not only teach history in the classrooms but current events as well. It's so important as newspapers are rarely found on the kitchen table anymore. I highly doubt an 11 year old will sign onto the Boston Globe web site to read about such an event.

Mom's Spending Too Much Time on Social Media

While I understand that social media tools like Facebook and Twitter have opened up a whole new world to stay at home and work Mom's, these tools should be used with more discretion. What I mean by that is that you shouldn't be on Facebook while your child is on Facebook. This is the time when you should be monitoring their activity and keeping them safe as with all their activities. Use these tools on work breaks (if you are able) or when your child has turned in for the evening.

Should friendships really last forever?

Today, Sex and the City writer, Candace Bushnell, was a guest on the View. As the girls probbed her on her own relationships she explained that as with romantic relationships some friendships, although they play a significant part in "a period of your life", may not last forever. Think about it. You grow out of romantic relationships, why not a friendship?
